[Republic] OP [Main Plot]
Lessons Learned
I wanted this to be as small as possible, but important. Previous conflict options felt bad, felt forced, so I didn't want to write more. "The Republic is really good at diplomacy" then why are they at open, full, war with pacifist who have strong allies and just cross their fingers and hope they don't get involved?
Sure, what I'm about to draft is still more or less that at its core, but does a much better job explaining it. I also do not use that as a template.
Situation: The Republic needs to build it's military to defend its sovereignty, the Confederation is growing too powerful with access to the galactic free markets. They're also losing hold on their colonies, especially Biona who recently received the "Capital Planet Gate" instead of the actual capital planet of Arita. The military, and other socialist policy, are putting the nation into financial ruin.
The Republic feels they must protect all Tutinari, and seeing Confederation members suffer terrorist attack after high crime rate cities, and general debauchery the Republic feels a desire to liberate the other Tutinari and provide them order.
This sentiment extends to all sentient aliens, but no normal person is saying we should conquer the Sector just to prevent crime when we can't secure our planet.
To Summarize:
Our people want to unite the Tutinari with order.
Our people want to create a fair and just society for all Tutinari.
The economy can't support funding this and hoping they accomplish it.
The people in charge would like more power, they understand they have the second strongest industry, they're far behind on tech, and psionics were outlawed thousands of years ago, and those laws are only now being revised.
The Solution:
First: In a proper Situation/Solution, I'd go much more in depth in the Situation, labeling each option on the table. I know the answer so I'm skipping that.
The Republic will play the games of each other alien, then try to out maneuver them.
With the Asida they open state backed corporations to win Market Cap and turn a profit, this profit would be collected in taxes. The Republic Navy would compete with SecuraCorp in the Space and Station defense, but would leave ground operations as something to expand into later. Frankly, any other business would be too socialist for them.
With the Arduin they will have to do spy work. There is too much friction to allow the state as a whole, they were lucky to get an ambassador and they did finally get one because "They are dual citizens, Citizens of the Republic and the Arduin. If they need our services, we should be local to help. It will only be a few, and they are open about culture learning akin to spy work, but the real spies are the people who endure full indoctrination and spend their lives there only to finally feed tech secrets back when they can get their hands onto them. A very long play, but a requirement for a very slow people.
With the Dynasty, they will use the galaxies bad vibes towards these isolationist to their favor and stage a false flag terror attack that allows them to conduct a regime change. This will have long term consequences as these people will grow to resent the democracy and the taxes, but of all the people to conquer these will be the most straight forward.
With the Vull, the plan here is actually quite more friendly. Despite my best efforts in early Novaris lore, these people have no reason to hate each other if the Republic is a "Protect and Order" Republic. Offering them assistance to getting to the nearby habitable planets, but this is to buy favor for later when they try to conquer them some other way. Fighting a hot war, then an economic war which very well may become a kinetic war is a bit much of a stretch for even the "Galaxies strongest navy"
In the end, the Dynasty becomes a vassal providing money and psionics research in exchange for Order and security from pirates and other nations whom, might I remind you, the rest of the galaxy generally dislikes. The Arduin cannot be won, not so quickly it would matter in this time period. The Compact will be neutered with the destruction of SecuraCorp, but this is the most volatile change since the Asida quickly realize they are becoming prey again, instead of an equal predator. Can a dedicated free market compete against a strong mixed economy militaristic empire? Will their friends, the Vull, who believe in a soft "might is right" step in to help, or will they believe that the winner will come out on top, and believe there will not be a genocide of either side despite the Republic using that as fuel once the hot war happens. "They genocide anyone they are scared of, they are scared of us. We simply wanted to compete in their market, and now we are getting attacked for no good reason"
