Overview

Here we're looking to answer the 4 of the 5 W's of a character. Who, What, Where, and Why. The When is locked to this time period, using 0 GS (Galactic Standard) as the baseline, marked at the first public Gate Traversal, then marked annually by the Cassius Calendar, time is stopped for the first story at 22 GS. These wont be answered in direct questions, but rather crafted over a series of questions.

Characters made in this system are meant to have a story that goes with them, the details are left to the person making the character and potentially working with a Lore Master.

Decision 1: Species

All species can live anywhere they like, the further from their typical home the more strict certain things may be. Picking your species is mainly about aesthetics and things you're capable of that others may not be. Certain social or systematic things may be locked behind being a certain race, and as a rule of thumb no character created in this system should be of galactic importance without prior approval and working closely with a Lore Master.

Decision 2: Place

Where are they from, where have they been, where do they want to go? Ask why for each as well. If they've stayed in one place their entire lives and have no desire to go elsewhere, why? These places can be as specific as cities or as vague as entire planets.

Decision 3: What do they do?

Can be as detailed as their day to day life or as vague as ideas about what they'd like the character to be doing. Want to explore the stars, sure! But how? Are they part of research team with a corporate sponsor, are they a vlogger, have they retired?

Use this section to also talk about things they may want to do. Do they have a bucket list, or are they trying to escape something, or just a simple desire to see something new?

Decision 4: Minor Details

Now that we have a good idea about our character its a good time to add some extra flavor to them. You can include as much or as little as you want here. Things like their name, age, gender, preferences, quirks, dislikes. These are things that provide life to your character and while they individually are minor details, they come together to form major aspects of your character.

Refinement

From here we likely have a good idea of what who your character is, what it is they do, where they do it, and why they are the way they are. We may also know about things they want to do. At this stage a Lore Master would need to review the character and ensure they're inline with expectations for the setting and what characters can and cannot be. This is also where a Lore Master may have suggestions based on Lore factors the creator may not have known about.

This can be a lot of back and forth, entire character ideas may be scrapped. If you're a lore master in training reading this, know that "Yes, and" and "No, but" are king here. We do not want to push people to scraping characters, but work with them. Some ideas will be outlandish for the setting and Lore Masters should be giving firm "No"s in those cases, it is up to the Lore Masters to make this judgment call.

Currently its remarkably unlikely that a creator knows anything about the setting and will need constant guidance by a Lore Master.
