Astroni

The Republic of Astrox runs a fiat currency that translates to English as Astroni. A generic meal will cost you roughly 340 Astroni. This currency has seen significant inflation in its history and isn’t backed by anything except the Republic might and its legal monopoly as the only currency allowed within Republic space. In the early history of the galactic community the Republic lied about the value of its currency when conducting trade while requiring Compact traders to convert eCash to Astroni. They decided the conversion rate was much more favorable to Astroni than it was. This went on with several factions for a few decades until the Republic began allowing free movement of other factions through their space and they learned the real conversion rate. This sparked controversy and the conversion rate was over adjusted for a short time to account for crimes lost. In the end Astrox ended up on top. This currency is digital only.
