Pirates

This is kinda specific to the Pirates in the galactic east of the Republic, near and around the Vullities colonies in the area:

Frankly, I’m not sure where to put this categorically, this is likely the best place for this.

With new map stuff the Colony Conflict may get renamed to something more ambiguous and this idea that came to me trying to figure out what was going on with that far south Republic world

It’s worth noting that Piracy in general is a concern everywhere, but became a real issue around 130 AE in the mid-east region of mapped space.

1: The events discussed here are intentionally suppressed by entities capable of doing so and even in Compact space this is seen as a small issue in the grand scheme of things. To them dealing with Pirates is no different than dealing with the Republic proper.

2: A Republic Top Secret organization is posing as a pirate faction. This organization has several missions in the area that require some explanation.

The 3 Qualatins in the NE region have formed a Regional Council to address the issue of Tutinari coming to their worlds. Tutinari don’t do well on their worlds, they are cold blooded animals that have to get cybernetic enhancements just to survive on their worlds, on top of this they claim to be fleeing they rigidness of the Republic but have been using what little political systems the Vulldom has in place to try to gain more leverage and build more and more bureaucracy. Combine all this with rising piracy in the region, this is the least stable portion of the Vulldom and the Qualatin’s are trying to fix that.

The primary purpose of the Republic Secret Pirate Faction is to increase the chaotic nature of the area, which is allowing the Tutinari Vulldom Citizens to call for more centralization of the military and getting Tutinari in those military positions. If that is successful, the next step is to conduct proper piracy and steal or destroy these ships, weakening the military might of the royalty in the area ideally to the point where Tutinari legally on Vulldom worlds can rebel for a lack of security. This gives the Republic many options for militaristically taVull this region, either providing the needed security, claiming Tutinari are being abused and sending in Rescue, or the least ideal option, allowing the Official Pirate force to take over.

Now, there are legit pirates in the area that are abusing the lack of security on high value trade routes, and the seemingly lack of interest in a colonizable world, to try to colonize that planet. There are several of these pirate groups, most of them are former criminals who wouldn’t be able to do much inside the Republic. This group steals from whoever and occasionally goes back to their base of operations, or really a horde, on the distant world.

There is a 3rd group that isn’t a pirate faction per say, but I’m not sure where else I could put them and they are breaVull many laws.

This group of Tutinari are quite interesting. They’ve been exposed to the freedoms that exist outside the Republic, did not fall for anarchy propaganda, and have enough capital within this system to be able to do what they’re trying to do. These Tutinari are attempting to colonize the distant world by themselves, without the help of a corporation or the government. This is illegal simply because they claim independence. The Republic cannot get out there to enforce law, the Qualatin’s won’t let Tutinari ships with weapons travel through their space and while they do have Fold capable military ships the balance of, enough to deal with them and cost make it next to impossible, plus it would be easier to attempt to enforce law with their fake pirate faction, which they do try to do. It’s also better to let them do this and establish intelligence so they can monitor the Tutinari there and let them build the infrastructure so when they can get ships there they can just take it over. So its illegal, but secretly okay.
