I really need to rewrite their old lore. One note was the last time I touched this, and that lore is not good.

The short of it is that several thousand years ago their home planet was ruled by an oligarchy that managed to abuse the democratic systems to create, for simplicity sake, a cyberpunk dystopia. That's not quite right, but it gets you in the ballpark of what they had going on. From there, greedy capitalism had begun to do serious damage to the planet to the point that the planet was reaching the boiling point, literally, and there was a "green rebellion" of people who were trying to save the planet. Because Monsi don't die of natural causes this war really shrunk the population, and new waves of Monsi were born into this era of restoration and grew up thinking that industrialism is not quite evil, but should be put in its place. Fast forward to modern day, this revitalization of their planet while keeping a forward tech movement has made them the poster species of the Solar Punks.
