Written a while ago, needs a revisit

Part of the push to the space age came from the fact that they knew sentient alien life was out there, sure they were thousands of light years away and warp technology was just discovered, it would still take lots of time to get to them.

However the Royzon Compact initiated first contact with them, in their own home system. Having excelled warp technology quicker than the Republic they were able to launch a diplomatic ship earlier

The immediately begun trade with the Compact, with the lack of a central state the Republic saw them as no real threat to their sovereignty and in fact thought they would be very easy to conquer, but they were still financially recovering from the last war, the fact that these people seemed to love trade was basically seen as a sign that they were meant to conquer the galaxy.

They went with the Compact to the Dynasty’s home system and were met with a society that was struggling to get to the space age. Their central state didn’t care to get to space, but wasn’t stopping private enterprise from doing so. Private enterprise was able to build stations and ships but couldn’t figure out the warp tech.

When the Compact and Republic find out that the Dynasty's home system is rich in the rare resource that permits warp travel they downplay it. Compact downplays it in attempts to conceal the supply/demand for a better price and the Republic downplays it so they can easier work a better contract for movement.

In the end the Dynasty gets absolutely screwed. The rulers of the Dynasty were effectively lied to about the real value of the resources and were allowed to make a deal with a private company for the collection of the resource. Due to galactic positioning all trade would need to go through Republic space unless the Compact wanted to build an expensive warp gate network to go around the entire Republic, which they agreed it would make more sense to just pay a simple tax to go through Republic space.

With a new found trade line built that was bound to make both the Republic and the Compact very wealthy, the Republic would be able to go on a new crusade soon enough. At first the target of the crusade was going to be the Dynasty, but then their diplomat with the Compact reported a new contact, and this new contact was already claiming planets in our space. It didn’t help that we had habitable planets near their space too, that would now be cut off assuming that movement through there would become restricted.

Establishing an embassy with The Vullities confirmed most of this. Their gods gave them actual powers it seemed, something that was quite strange. They also claimed that they had a divine right to claim every habitable planet. While the Compact (and later the Arduin) would advise the Republic to just allow them to colonize those planets and work out some deal for using your space. The Republic would look at this from a military strategic way. This was clearly a foot in the door to allow them to invade their systems easier. The Vullities ’s planets are too close to the Republic home world to allow it, and the Republic worlds are too far away from the Vullities home world to do the same. For them, this is tactically unacceptable.

This would be the pain point that makes the Republic launch an offensive on the Vullities before Talking the Dynasty. The Vullities is an active threat, they know they are preparing for war and to weaken their military by attacking another state. An elaborate attack plan was built. The Republic would build a very expensive logistics lane on the galactic “south”. This would also ensure that their logistics wouldn’t rely on the Warp Gates of the Compact since they threatened to deny access to any vessels containing war supplies. With this a secret wharf was built with this war time logistics lane which allowed the Republic to attack the Vullities .
