The Republic of Astrox started as the City State of Thudra, and when it was discovered that there were, without doubt, several intelligent alien neighbors in the galaxy they used this as well as the political power they'd grown to call for the unification of the Tutinari. They began looking for alliances with other City States and entire nations which eventually formed the Republic of Astrox.

Once it was clear that the rest of the world would not join for one reason or another the Founding States, now known as the Republic of Astrox, set out to conquer the world. The war lasted several decades but eventually ended in a stalemate with the Republic unable to continue economically and exhausted from war. The final deciding factor was the formation of the Arita Confederation which sought to protect the sovereignty and freedom of its people. In the end, the Republic was able to secure a majority of the Tutinari population and many members of the Arita Confederation left. While the Confederation still stands it offers very little in the way of unifying the Tutinari people it is supposedly in charge of.

The war ended over a hundred years ago and many parts of the world are still recovering.

Now that I've written it, I don't love it but I think it's only because ending in a stalemate doesn't feel right.
