From the outside the Republic may seem authoritarian and hyper militaristic. This is because their diplomats are high ranking military officers and the government doesn’t want outsiders to interact with their citizens. They say this is to protect their citizens, and they tell the citizens the same thing.

This isn’t to say they wouldn’t bring an alien to one of their cities to walk among the population, its just that such an act wouldn’t be unescorted. There is a distrust to anyone that doesn’t understand their way, and even more so when their real intents are unknown. Even with the RC, they say they don’t have a central government but what if this is an elaborate plot of some hidden central government?
