Where so many important things happen Senators often talk about breaking it apart.

The DotN is tasked with building and maintaining vessels. Their domain is is the seas of worlds and space. They're also tasked with keeping their vessels safe, so they have Marines who after a historic war where they used Army vehicles to conduct an amphibious landing got special units to do just that.

When Space became a domain worth fighting in there was debate on how to handle it but eventually the Military Ministry didn't want to spend the money on a new Department, so they ordered the Navy to begin building space craft, manning them, and developing doctrine.

Internally, the Department split into "gravity" and "0g" divisions.
